Description:
The poncho is crocheted from the top down in back loop only and gradually widened with increases. The design has a loose fit and can easily be adjusted in both length and width.
Sizes + measurements
The poncho can be made in all sizes, as the pattern is one-size and adjustable. I usually wear a medium and have made the poncho based on my own measurements. You can adjust it yourself by choosing:
How many increase rounds you make (width)
How long you want the poncho to be (length)
Finished measurements (the one shown in the photos):
Length: 33 cm
Neck opening: 16 cm
Materials:
Yarn from Hjertegarn
A: Silk Kid Mohair 25 g, 210 m
B: Wool/Armonia fv 9999 For Hand dyed 100 g, 400 m
The poncho is crocheted holding 1 strand of A + 1 strand of B together.
Yarn amount for the model in the photos:
(A) 75 g, 630 m, mohair + (B) 150 g, 630 m, merino wool — total yarn usage: 225 g
Crochet hook:
Size 6.5 mm for ribbing
Size 4.0 mm for the body
TIP: Feel free to use a hook with a slightly pointed tip for the collar, as it can be a bit challenging to work through mohair and merino with the wrong hook. I use a Symfonie crochet hook, which is actually intended for Tunisian crochet, but works really well.
Additional Supplies:
Stitch marker (optional)
Scissors
Gauge
Neck rib: 21 ch × 31 rows = 10 × 10 cm (4 × 4 in)
Body:18 dc × 10 rows = 10 × 10 cm (4 × 4 in)
If you have more stitches than indicated, your tension is too tight → use a larger hook.
If you have fewer stitches than indicated, your tension is too loose → use a smaller hook.
Pattern Overview
The poncho is worked from the top down:
Neck rib
Body
Lace edging
